The app
Put AKHBAARI on your home screen
There is no app store listing, no download and no account. AKHBAARI installs straight from the browser, opens full screen without browser chrome, and keeps working on a bad connection.
Already installed. You are reading this inside the app.
iPhone and iPad
This only works in Safari. Chrome and Firefox on iOS cannot add to the home screen, because Apple does not let them.
- Open akhbaari.com in Safari.
- Tap the Share button, in the bar at the bottom of the screen.
- Scroll down the list and tap Add to Home Screen.
- Tap Add. The masthead icon appears with your other apps.
Android
- Open akhbaari.com in Chrome.
- Tap Install when it is offered, or open the ⋮ menu and choose Add to Home screen.
- Long-press the installed icon for shortcuts straight to India, World, हिन्दी and اردو.
Desktop
Chrome and Edge show an install icon at the right-hand end of the address bar. Safari on macOS uses File → Add to Dock.
What you get
- Full screen. No address bar, no tabs.
- Works on a weak signal. Pages you have opened stay readable, and the app stops waiting after a few seconds rather than hanging on a dying connection.
- Always current. Nothing is served from memory when the network is reachable, because stale news is worse than no news.
- Nothing collected. No account, no email, no notifications, no tracking. Installing changes none of that.
Removing it
Long-press the icon and choose Remove App on iOS, or Uninstall on Android. Nothing of yours is left behind, because nothing of yours was stored.
