What is checked
Every five minutes: whether any source has been polled in the last fifteen minutes, how old the newest story is, and how many sources are failing. A stalled poll schedule is repaired automatically — that failure once ran for twelve hours while every other signal reported success. Sources disabled after repeated failures are re-enabled to retry after six hours.
